George Raymond Cochran, 87

| August 20, 2019 1:13 PM

George Raymond Cochran, 87, died on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019 at Libby Care Center. He was born at La Junta, Colorado into a family that raised cattle. Being a cowboy with his father and brother started his enthusiasm for the outdoors. The family moved to Hysham, Montana which instigated his love of the state. He developed lifelong friends and had great anticipation for his high school reunions.

George was proud of his Naval service during the Korean Conflict and his career with Lockheed. His career moved him through various states but his love for Montana brought him back. He retired and moved to Troy.

George and Ailene raised three children, Linda, Jim and Laura, who will always remember fishing trips in the snow, skiing in near whiteout conditions and camping in the middle of nowhere because he didn’t want to raise sissys.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Ailene; and his brothers, Harry and Lonnie. George found another person who loved Montana as much as he did, Kathleeen Hartwell, who he married in 2013.

Kathleen survives him as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019 at the Troy Community Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Libby. Memorials may be made to Hysham High School, and Kootenai Pets for Life, PO Box 1454, Libby, MT 59923. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
