The Libby High School tennis team took on Ronan at home Thursday, with the Lady Loggers beating the Maidens 6-1, but the Loggers falling to the Chiefs 5-2.

The Lady Loggers came out firing, with junior Ciera Lucas and senior Marissa Wood scoring decisive wins in singles action. Senior Jessika Jones had a close first set, 7-5, but won her second set 6-1.

The Lady Loggers’ only defeat, for sophomore doubles partners Ivy Pierce and Jessica Cunningham, went three sets, ending in a tie-breaker.

The Loggers had several close sets even for those who did not win their matches.

Freshman Ryan Collins battled hard through all three sets, fighting Ronan’s Caden Bourdon to a 10-7 loss in the final set.

Sophomore Ryker McElmurry had the most decisive win for the Loggers, taking down Ronan’s Vicente Ortega 6-1, 6-3.
