Sen. Tester fights for veterans
Sen. Jon Tester’s opponent, Matt Rosendale, has apparently called Jon’s successful legislation to aid veterans, like myself, and that the president signed into law, the “little stuff.” Well, I can tell you they are not “the little stuff” to me. In at least two instances, Sen. Tester’s bills have helped me directly.
First, Jon’s bill to allow the Veterans Administration to hire more staff allowed me to be assigned a new doctor and registered nurse after my previous doctor left from overwork. It also shortened my time to get an appointment.
Second, Jon’s bill to end and replace the old program for vets to see private providers when VA personnel were not available allowed me to get an eye exam within one day of requesting it — rather than three months under the old program. Additionally, I was able to get new eyeglasses within a week of the exam at very little cost to me.
Mr. Rosendale, these bills aren’t just politics. They have a real impact on the lives of Montana veterans like myself. Since day one, Jon has fought on behalf of veterans and has delivered on his promises.
Thank you, Jon, for taking our fight with you to Washington.
