Thanks for generous co-op members
To the editor:
Forest fire lookouts are a precious piece of history, and the Northwest Montana chapter of the Forest Fire Lookout Association has a passion for preserving them. Many lookouts in this area are currently staffed, and they will still be important in the future detection of fires in our wildlands.
Also, non-staffed lookouts are on the Forest Service rental program for public use and enjoyment. Thus, our mission is restoring and maintaining them.
A recent grant funded by the Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety Program will help our volunteers work more safely. This donation enabled us to purchase two Garmin inReach satellite communication devices and two first aid kits.
A heartfelt “thank you” goes out to cooperative members for rounding up their bills to make Roundup for Safety possible.
