The Libby High School boys soccer team took a 7-0 loss against the Hamilton Broncs last Saturday after taking injuries that slowed them down on the field.

Regardless the incomplete story the score gives, Logger Head Coach Jeff Zwang said by email that he was still really pleased with his team’s performance.

“I don’t think the final score reflects how good the performance was,” he said. “Several of their goals were due more to misfortune than bad defensive play.”

One goal for the Broncs came with a penalty kick for a handball in the box, Zwang said. Though the likelihood of stopping such a penalty kick was low, the Logger’s keeper still came close to a save.

Two more of the Hamilton goals came in the second half during stoppage time, time added to the half by referees meant to equate to delays in play.

“Our players were getting tired, because we were running low on substitutes due to injuries,” Zwang said.

The Loggers play next at Whitefish on Tuesday, with the boys team scheduled to begin playing at 3 p.m.
