Kootenai Kiwanis is ramping up its Koats-4-Kids service project for another season.

Over the past 16 years, Koats-4-Kids has given away over 18,000 coats and other winter items in the Troy and Libby area, according to organizer Pam Peppenger.

“Children are our priority, but we want everyone to know that it is really ‘Koats-4-the-Community.’” Peppenger said by email. “Anyone who needs winter wear can come in and get what they need to stay warm.”

The Koats-4-Kids office opens 1 p.m. Oct. 1 inside Asa Wood School at 700 Idaho Ave. in Libby. Office hours will be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, during which donated items can be dropped off.

Donations can also be dropped off at Ace Hardware, Pioneer Auto, Managhan’s Furniture, Rosauers, AuntTs Coffee Corner, Libby Dollar Store and The Printing Press in Libby.
