Harvest Fest is Sept. 15

The fourth annual Kootenai Harvest Festival takes place noon to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Riverfront Park in Libby. Admission is free for the event, which features local food, live music and family fun for the duration.

More than 30 food and crafts vendors from northwest Montana will have vegetables, homemade jams and jellies, custom jewelry and other items for sale, while kids can keep occupied with free activities including sack races, dance lessons and a water balloon fight.

Fans of apple cider are welcome to bring their own non-sprayed apples and containers and use the Yaak Valley Forest Council’s free cider press. To make one gallon of cider, plan on bringing about five gallons of apples.

For $10 from noon to 7 p.m., the Gracious Table will offer a locally sourced meal of a pulled pork sandwich or harvest squash soup served with choice of a side and cobbler for dessert.

For $3 a glass, people old enough to imbibe can quaff a beer brewed at Cabinet Mountain Brewing Company.

There will also be a raffle, and music performances by Rod and Anna Snyder and Billy Powell.
