Kootenai Valley Partners, the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate, seeks families to apply for the house it will build next summer.

Applications are due Oct. 1. A family will be chosen during the winter.

To be eligible, a family must need decent housing, be able to pay the no-interest mortgage and be willing to put “sweat-equity” into the project, which includes labor and attending training on financial literacy, buying a home and being a home owner.

Interested parties are encouraged to attend one of two 7 p.m. orientations on Sept. 18: Christ Lutheran Church at 200 West Larch St. in Libby, or United Methodist Church at 713 3rd St. in Troy. Both orientations will cover the Habitat for Humanity program, the selection process, requirements and expectations of a partner family, and how to finish the application.

Applications can be mailed to: KVP/HFH, PO Box 19, Libby, MT 59923.
