Mental Health First Aid course is Sept. 14
Lincoln County Public Health will hold a Mental Health First Aid course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 14. The training enables people to recognize when someone might be showing early signs of a mental health crisis or suicidal behavior.
Amy Fantozzi, the department’s behavioral health liaison, will lead the training. The cost is $20 for materials.
Those who receive the training know what to say, what to ask, how to listen and how to help that person get help, Fantozzi has said.
“You want to help people in the early stages of illness find help before it gets to a point where it’s affected their ability to live, laugh and love,” she said.
To register, call Fantozzi at 406-283-2467 or visit portal.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/firstaiders/signin?returnUrl=firstaiders and enter Course ID 00103731.
The Mental Health First Aid website at www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org lists numerous studies of the program’s efficacy.
