Beware misleading health care coverage information

Currently, there’s a lot of electioneering about pre-existing medical conditions. Much of it is rhetorical and misleading. Some claim Republicans want to remove coverage for such conditions. In fact, such allegations exaggerate the problem and misstate the conservative approach to needed health care reform.

In fact, Obamacare extended such coverage to only 7 percent of the population and a small percent of these were ever denied coverage of pre-existing conditions before Obamacare. Most others already had this coverage. Medicare/Medicaid, which account for 33 percent of coverage, cover pre-existing conditions. The VA covers another 9 million and state and federal laws already required large group insurers to include such conditions.

The conservative replacement for Obamacare includes coverage for pre-existing conditions but uses far better and less costly methods such as subsidized high risk insurance pools, protections for those who maintain continuous coverage (to prevent abuse of the system rampant under Obamacare) and increases access to group coverage.

The democrats aim to shift blame for giving us the disaster that is Obamacare. Such “care” has made it nearly impossible for millions to get the “affordable” heath coverage promised and requires huge taxpayer subsidies. Its rules and mandates have created double-digit rate increases.

Don’t be fooled by the smoke and mirrors of the many false campaign ads about health care and pre-existing conditions.
