Heritage Council's concert season opens with jazz duo

The all-volunteer Kootenai Heritage Council invites the Libby and Troy communities to another entertainment season at the Libby Memorial Events Center.

The season starts 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, with a performance by Sundae and Mr. Goessl, a vintage jazz duo from Seattle, Washington.

Comprised of Kate Voss, Earshot Magazine’s “Vocalist of the Year,” and Jason Goessl, among Seattle’s most in-demand guitarists, the duo’s “authenticity and commitment to the genre rings true, and the genuineness shines through in their renditions of these classic gems,” according to H. Allen Williams of the Jazz Times.

Tickets cost $12 at the door or $10 if purchased in advance in Libby at Cabinet Books, Libby Area Chamber of Commerce, Homesteaders Farm and Ranch, Rivermist, The Western News, Mountain Meadows or Rocky Mountain Music, or in Troy at Booze ‘n Bait. Students are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Another entrance option is to by a Season Series Pass for $50, which allows one person’s admission for each of season’s five performances or admission for the pass holder and four others for one show.

Prior to their show, Voss and Goessl will appear at Kootenai Valley Christian School as part of the Heritage Council’s Outreach Program, which aims to culturally enrich local students at no cost to taxpayers.
