George Carl Lippert
George Carl Lippert, of Hunters, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 23, 2018. He was born on Jan. 11, 1950, in Miles City to Clarence and Edith (Lacock) Lippert. The family moved west to Libby in 1951, where all the children were raised.
George started building homes in high school, when he built a cabin by the creek in the valley at his folks’ place, which still stands today.
After graduating in 1967, he enlisted in the Navy because he had a low draft number, and he traveled all over the world from Hawaii to New Zealand. While in San Diego, he met his future wife, Deborah. They moved to Silver Butte and had two children, Bonny Jean and Patrick Carl, who were the love of his life, and who he was proud of.
His love of building progressed exponentially and he was much sought after for his beautiful grand log homes, which he designed and built one by one from the ground up. He was truly a master log home builder and an artist. These elaborately designed structures will stand the test of time for ages to come.
George had many talents and skills including photography, painting, fishing, mountaineering, kayaking and birding. He had a great admiration for the wilderness of western Montana and eastern Washington and he treasured his many friends on the Colville Reservation.
George was especially fond of animals and they trusted him too. When he poured water in a bowl outside his home the grouse would come running and drink right by his feet. The deer also recognized his voice when he walked by and didn’t run away. At a job site out of state where bears came around frequently, he was able to hand feed a bear. He called this bear the “Donut-Bear.”
He had a zest for life, loved country music, cooking cheesecake, telling and hearing a good story, and he always loved having a good adventure.
George was always grateful to spend time with his beloved father, Clarence, and he loved all his siblings dearly; Jim, Karen, Dee and Ralph, with whom he shared countless fond memories.
George was a man of faith and had a deep and abiding love of his spiritual community of friends that spanned many states and many generations. He lived his faith. The most important thing to him was showing his love to everyone by being a help to whoever he could. How fortunate we are that we had someone so kind in our lives.
George built log homes his whole life that will last for the ages but the love he built in our hearts for our friend, father, son and brother, will last forever and ever.
A memorial service for George Lippert will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 28 at the Hunters Grange with graveside interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Hunters, Washington. Please join the family after the services at the Hunters Campground for a potluck and shared memories of George.
