Rose Marie (Rosie) Bock Roberts

| October 5, 2018 4:00 AM

Rose Marie (Rosie) Bock Roberts passed away at the age of 88 on Sept. 28, 2018, at Edgewood Vista in Kalispell. She was born on May 11, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Garland and Elvera Bock. Rosie graduated from Lewiston, Idaho in 1947. Immediately after high school, she attended Sacred Heart School of Nursing, where she graduated as an RN in 1950.

Rosie met her future husband, Jim Roberts, on a blind date in Libby. Married on Aug. 16, 1952, the couple remained in Libby for the rest of their lives. She stayed at home until her youngest child started school. Rosie’s first job as a nurse was at Old Libby Hospital. She continued working as a nurse for private practice physicians until her retirement in the early 2000s.

Mrs. Roberts was well-known as “Gramma Rosie” to family and friends. Her formal training as a nurse was evident in many close relationships as she demonstrated a tireless energy in caring for others. Rosie loved a good joke and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her hobbies included gardening and raising beautiful flowers, producing many exquisite cross-stitched pieces, and knitting afghans. She dabbled in word games and crossword puzzles.

Rosie was preceded in death by her husband Jim; her parents and in-laws; a sister; and brother-in-law.

Survivors include her children Jim (Linda) Roberts, Kathy Bauska, and Mike (Pam) Roberts; grandchildren Jay and Amy Roberts, Caron (Trifon) Demos, and Brian (Catherine) Brooks; great-grandchildren Gianna and Johnny Demos; brother-in-law Greg; sister-in-law Ila; numerous nieces and nephews; and many Godchildren.

Mom had an incredible love of God and her Catholic faith which became very apparent as we spent the last few days and hours with her. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Springs in Whitefish, Edgewood Vista and Frontier Hospice in Kalispell for the loving care they gave Mom.
