The Lincoln County Rural Fire District has expanded its boundaries to include an additional 120 properties.

The annexation, outlined in Resolution 2018-09, was unanimously approved by the County Commission on May 23 after no opposition was voiced during a public hearing on the matter.

The annexation comprises 116 properties in Big Horn Terrace, three properties in the Lost Treasure area off Pipe Creek Road, and the Libby Heritage Museum property at 34067 Highway 2.

The effective date of the Big Horn Terrace annexation is Jan. 1, 2019, while the proposed effective dates of the others was immediate upon the commissioners’ approval.

Petitions to annex the properties were presented at the Commission’s April 4 meeting. Each petition met a state statute requiring support from the owners of at least 40 percent of the real property within each area and owners of property representing at least 40 percent of the taxable value of property within each area.
