Russell G. Christopherson

Russell G. Christopherson, 86, of Libby, passed away May 13, 2018 at the Libby Care Center. Russ was born May 29, 1931 in Poplar, Montana, to Andrew and Joanna (Hoem) Christopherson. He grew up and attended school in Riverside Community and Vida, Montana.

Russ enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on August 30, 1951. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1953, before being honorably discharged on August 29, 1955.

On May 24, 1956, Russ married Anna Tolan in Wolf Point, Montana, and celebrated their 60th anniversary before her death in 2016. They made their home in Great Falls, where they lived until 1992, when they moved to Libby. While in Great Falls, Russ worked for the city in the sanitation department. He was a life member of VFW post 1548 in Libby.

Russ was preceded in death by his wife Anna; a son, Bruce (Lance); a daughter, Karen; his parents; a brother Paul, and sisters Olive Murphy, Irene Vraa, and Elsie Tolan, and nephew Dennis Tolan.

Survivors include his sister Vera Paulson of Glendive; 2 grandsons Josh Amato of Libby and Reed Pitman of Deer Lodge; great-grandchild Collin Amato of Libby; son-in-law Lance Kaldor of Boise, Idaho; and nieces Elaine Moen, Havre; Darlene Ellertson, Shelby; and Lenore Stevenson, Circle; Desiree Tolan, Great Falls; and nephews Darryl Tolan, Glendive; Derrick Tolan, Great Falls; Darren Tolan, Great Falls; and Duane Vraa, Shelby.

There will be no public services. Memoriawls may be made to Kootenai Pets for Life. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting schnackenbergfh.com.
