Libby, Troy perform well at State Music Festival

High School students from Libby and Troy competed in the State Music Festival in Helena last weekend, with high ratings across the board.

Libby High School vocalists and instrumentalists performed well, according to Music Director Brenda Nagode and Choir Director Lorraine Braun.

On the instrumental side, Sally Weber (violin solo), Alyssa Bales (violin solo), Trey Thompson (Tenor Sax solo), Cerria Swagger (French horn and trumpet solos), Kevin Lee (tuba solo) and Shelby Smith (flute solo) each received a superior rating (I), while Chis Williams (tenor sax solo) rated excellent (II).

On the vocal side, the following received superior ratings: Alaina Moore and Laneigha Zeiler (vocal duet); Mikalyn Zeier and Laneigha Zeiler (vocal duet); Sophie Lee, Mikalyn Zeiler and Kaleb Lindgren (vocal trio); Hannah Beebe, Ashlynn Charles, Hailey Dotson, Abbie Johnson, Destiny Galloway, Shey Wolfe, Arianna Willis, Sophie Lee and Zoey O’Donnell (SSA Women’s Ensemble 1); Ashlynn Charles, Hannah Beebe, Hailey Dotson, Arianna Willis, Sophie Lee and Christina Corbell (SSA Women’s Ensemble 2); Christina Corbell, Mallory Hughes, Mikalyn Zeiler, Sophie Lee, Arianna Willis, Haliey Dotson and Morgan Williams (SSA Women’s Ensemble 3); and Hailey Dotson (vocal solo).

Receiving excellent ratings were Mikalyn Zeiler (vocal solo), Alaina Moore (vocal solo) and Ashlynn Charles (vocal solo).

For Troy, Liam Hennsley received a superior for vocal solo, according to Troy Schools Music Director Sheri Hand.

In instrumental solos, John Fossen received a superior rating for French horn, and Jacob Volkenand received an excellent rating for clarinet.

For instrumental duets, Lyndan Clay, on bartone saxophone, and Chloe Yeadon, on tenor saxophone, received an excellent rating.
