Kathleen Mary Halvorsen
Kathleen Mary Halvorsen, 76, went home to Jesus on Monday, April 30, 2018.
Kathy was born April 16, 1942, to Franklin and Enid Huff. She graduated from High School at Endicott, New York in 1960, and attended University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa where she met and married her husband Bob, on Aug. 25, 1962. Kathy transferred to Illinois State University, where she graduated with a degree in education. She taught in Bloomington, Illinois for two years before moving to Libby in 1967. Kathy spent several years working as a substitute teacher in the Libby School System before taking a permanent position as a library aid at Libby Middle School.
When Kathy and Bob retired, they spent 18 years traveling around the country visiting their children and finding their favorite places to enjoy their time together. They spent nine spring seasons volunteering at Yaquina Head Lighthouse in Newport, Oregon. Kathy, always the teacher, enjoyed giving guided tours of the tide pools to school groups and assisting tourists in bird watching and whale watching.
Kathy was very active first in the Libby Methodist Church, then at Faith Bible Church and was the current president of Gideon’s International Auxiliary in Libby.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob; her brother, Dan (Sandy) Huff of Saginaw, Michigan; her sister, Judy (Dick) Fox of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; children David (Jennifer) Halvorsen of Waco, Texas, Chris Halvorsen of Belgrade, Becky (Chad) Horn of Maricopa, Arizona, and Tim (Lisa) Halvorsen of Covington, Washington; and grandchildren Josh (Leah), Jacob, Rhiannon, Makayla, Anders, Nathan, Asa and Josephine.
