Poetry contest awards among May events

All events are free and open to the public.

New “Grab-n-Go” selections are available at local branches. Grab-n-Go books are popular best sellers available on a first come, first serve basis. Up to two books can be checked out for two weeks, and cannot be renewed.

Preschool story time will be at the Libby library on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m., the Troy library on Fridays at 11:15 a.m. and the Eureka library on Thursdays at 11:30 a.m.

Chess games will be every Saturday at the Troy library from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

May 4: Libby Friends of the Library Book Sale will happen 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

May 9: Winners of the 12th Annual Lincoln County Poetry Contest will be announced 5 p.m. at the Poetry Extravaganza at AuntT’s Coffee Corner in Libby, featuring this year’s judge, Philip Burgess. Winning poems will be read and prizes awarded. An open mic session will follow.

May 12: Troy Library is closed

May 21: Libby Library is closed.

May 25: Amnesty Day: All items turned in that are less than 90 days overdue and in good condition will have fines waived.

May 26: Join us at the Libby library at 11 a.m. for “A Hot Drink and A Good Book,” our monthly book discussion. This month features “Empire Falls,” by Richard Russo. Thriving in a blue-collar, small town in the heart of our country sounds easy enough, but when the economy has tanked, jobs have left, and hope is in short supply frustration and resentment set in. Copies are available at the library.

May 26: Troy and Eureka libraries are closed for Memorial Day.

May 28: Libby library is closed for Memorial Day.

May 31: The board meeting will be held 10:30 a.m. in Libby.
