The Montana Society of American Foresters is holding its 2018 State Meeting — themed “Flames, Fuels, and Funding: The New Fire Triangle” — on Friday and Saturday, April 13-14, at Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish. Friday’s presentation topics will include fuels management, federal wildfire funding reform and lessons learned from the 2017 fire season, a news release states. Saturday’s program will begin with a presentation of the history of wildfires in the Flathead National Forest, followed by a field trip to visit fuels management projects in the wildland urban interface and Whitefish Municipal Watershed.

Gov. Steve Bullock has been invited to speak during lunch on Friday, while dinner that evening will include awards and a presentation by Dr. Ron Wakimoto on wildfire in Bhutan.
