The special district elections scheduled for May 8 have been canceled and a handful of candidates for various boards elected by acclamation after too few people filed for the available openings.

The Lincoln County Rural Fire District and Bull Lake Fire District boards each had two people apply for two openings: Jay Dinning and Kirby Kulbeck for the former, and D. Mike Casey and Gerald Wallace for the latter, according to a document provided by Lincoln County Election Administrator Leigh Riggleman.

For the McCormick Fire District board, two people — John L. Chott and John Driebusch — applied for three openings.

No one filed for any of the three openings on the Troy Rural Fire District board or the one opening on the Libby Park District board.

The Lincoln County Commission unanimously approved the elections cancellation and election by acclamation at its March 14 meeting.
