Letter to the editor Aussie cowboy seeks pen pals
Dear Editor,
I am one of only two cowboys in my area. When folks in the surfing and tourist town of Caloundra see me saunterin’ up Main St., they stare as if I’m a polar bear skatin’ on the prairie.
I hanker for news and conversation from cowboy country like a tumbleweed likes to roam, so I’ve been tryin’ to a-rustle up some of those thare penpals. So far, it’s been like tryin’ to rope rattlers. It seems I’ve been peekin’ under the wrong rocks.
I’m in my late thirties, and some of my interests include: singin’ (lonesome cowboy tunes, ’50’s and ’60’s, country), genealogy, movies, Elvis, line dancin’, writin’ novels and more. I ain’t meaner than a hungry grizzly or ornier’n a thirsty mule.
If your squareshootin’ readers know how to help me out of this predicament, I’d shorely be smirkin’ like kittens covered in cream.
Yours traily,
—Mellie
