Senia L. Halttunen

Senia L. Halttunen, 87, of Libby, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Libby Care Center, with family at her bedside. She was born in the family home Jan. 29, 1931 in Squaw Lake, Minnesota to William and Hilda (Karkinen) Salmonson, the youngest of eight children. Senia graduated high school in Blackduck, Minnesota. On Oct. 28, 1949, Senia married Leonard Halttunen in Duluth, Minnesota.

Over the years, Senia worked at several retail businesses including the Pay ‘N Pak, Ben Franklin and Larry’s Furniture. She was probably known most for Libby Furniture and Appliance, which she owned and operated. She opened Libby Furniture & Appliance in July of 1991 and was presented the “Outstanding Business Person” in 1992 by the Libby Area Chamber of Commerce. Senia worked there until her retirement.

Senia was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; a son, Ronald “Ron”; her beloved dog, Keenan; and son-in-laws, Larry Managhan and Alan Fontaine.

Survivors include her daughters, Janet Fontaine and Judy Rebo (Stan), both of Libby; grandchildren Traci (Managhan) Howell (Jason) of Houston, Texas, Mark Managhan (Amber) of Libby, Zac Rebo of Helena, and Rachel Rebo of Libby; great-granddaughter Emily Managhan; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service on July 17, 2018 at the Squaw Lake Cemetery in Squaw Lake, Minnesota. Local arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby.
