Electric co-op seeks more rebate program participants

Flathead Electric Cooperative is looking for more members to participate in its “Peak Time Rebate Program,” which credits participating members $4 per month credit on their electric bill.

As part of a current promotion to boost participation from 2,500 members to the goal of 5,000, the cooperative will pay one member’s July electric bill.

Under the “Peak Time Rebate Program,” the cooperative installs at no cost a unit on a participating member’s electric water heater. During periods of peak energy use, the water heater is turned off for a short time that members usually don’t notice, a news release states.

The cooperative offers two ways to enter the drawing. Members with an electric water heater at their primary residence who sign up for the rebate program in June will automatically be entered into the drawing.

Members already participating in the program or without an electric water heater will be entered into the drawing for referring another member if that member signs up in June. That member will also be entered into the drawing.

“The more Peak Time participants there are, the more Flathead Electric’s system demand is reduced, and the more money they get to return to their participating members,” the news release states.
