Ruth Ann Polette
Ruth Ann Graybill Magone Polette, 84, was born on April 11, 1933 to Letcher and Alma Graybill in Tucson, Arizona. She left this world to be with Jesus on July 3, 2018 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Her early childhood years were spent in Arizona, where she loved walking in the desert with her younger brother Tom, while her dad was mining for gold. She also spent time in California during World War Two.
Her teen years were spent in Superior, where her parents ran the Evening Star Motel. She met her first husband, Dan Magone in Superior, and they were married Aug. 13, 1950, in Superior. Ruth Ann and Dan had three sons there. The family moved to Great Falls in 1958, and in 1959 a daughter joined the family. In 1960 they moved to Libby.
Ruth Ann and Dan were divorced in 1966, and on Feb. 9, 1967, Ruth Ann and Arthur Polette were married. This added a step brother to the Magone siblings. Art and Ruth spent time in Alaska with her daughter’s family and the majority of their retirement was spent in Black Canyon City, Arizona.
Ruth Ann loved the desert, especially in the springtime when the cactus was in full bloom. She loved baking, cooking and making sure that everyone had plenty to eat. She really enjoyed shopping, and eating at restaurants. She had a soft spot in her heart for all animals, and never turned away a stray cat. She enjoyed being outside, doing simple things like walking around the yard, checking out all the flowerbeds and plants. She loved the forest and mountains, especially when the huckleberries were ready for picking. Most of all, she loved being with her family, and making sure everyone had a good time, and a full tummy.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Polette; her parents, Letcher and Alma Graybill; and a brother Thomas Graybill, and his wife Rhoda.
She is survived by a brother, Douglas Graybill (Betty); her children, Terry Magone (Barb), Steven Magone (Charlotte), Tom Magone (Ritchel), Dana Henry and stepson Jim Polette (Terry); 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A private family service has taken place, and she will be interred at the city of Libby Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Libby.
