Libby hunter education seats open

Seats are still available in the free Hunter Education Classroom Course taking place at Libby Elementary School in February and March.

As of Jan. 25, 9 of 50 spots remained open for the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks class.

Sessions will be held at Libby Elementary School at 101 Ski Rd. in Libby on Feb. 15, 19-22 and 26-27 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The final session will be March 3, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.

Students must be at least 10 years old by Feb. 15.

The class is a requirement for purchasing a Montana hunting license for anyone born after Jan. 1, 1985, though an additional class is required for bowhunting.

The instruction includes safe handling of firearms, wildlife management, game identification and field care, and hunting laws and regulations.

Registration can be done online at www.register-ed.com/events/view/116822. Students are required to print, sign and bring with them an acknowledgment of risk and a student code of ethics form available at the registration link. The link also has a letter to parents explaining the purpose of the course.
