David Alan Adkins

| January 19, 2018 3:00 AM

Surrounded by family, David Alan Adkins passed peacefully into eternal life Jan. 10, 2018 at Kootenai Health of complications from AL Amyloidosis and Multiple Myeloma.

Dave is survived by his ex-wife, Sherrill; daughters Juli Hopfer, Chari (Frank) Lucas and Kelli (Wes) Williams; his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family; and EJ, his constant four-legged companion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Born Dec. 6, 1940 in Libby and raised in Troy, Dave lived life to the fullest from an early age. Dave was a jack of all trades and worked at carpentry jobs, but spent the majority of his work career self-employed at Janet’s Maytag and Laundromat.

He was always up for an adventure, most always took the road less traveled from the local backroads, Alaska, Australia and countless places in between. Dave touched the hearts of many people along his life journey. He knew no stranger and struck up conversations with all kinds of people, was a great listener, and displayed acceptance and unconditional love. His quirky ways and sayings kept us all laughing on a regular basis.

The last 23 years his passion was mentoring and giving of himself to help others in the AA program. Countless people continue to express sincere appreciation for how he helped them learn to live a life of sobriety.

A bright spot in our life is gone -- Dad, grandpa, g-pa and friend will be greatly missed. The lack of his presence leaves us with broken hearts but we are grateful for all the wonderful memories.

A celebration of life will be held at Dave’s Bull Lake Cabin on Saturday, June 2, 2018.

Condolences may be mailed to 183 Woodway Ave., Libby, MT, 59923.

The family asks to honor Dave you donate of your time, monetarily or in some way to cause near and dear to your heart.
