Thomas “Bud” H. Zimmerman

Thomas “Bud” H. Zimmerman, 92, of Mankato, Minnesota died Sunday at Pathstone Living.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Thomas was born June 14, 1925 in Mankato to Henry and Estella (Thomas) Zimmerman. Tom graduated from Mankato High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy. He received the Bronze Star for his action in battle. Tom also was wounded twice and received the Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster.

When Tom returned from the war he graduated from Mankato Commercial College. He worked as a TV repairman in the area for many years and worked at SM supply until he retired. During retirement he worked various jobs.

Tom enjoyed bowling, woodworking, riding bikes, feeding birds, fishing, traveling to Mission, Texas for 21 years and most of all spending time with family.

Tom is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary; three children — Bob (Lynn) Zimmerman of Libby and Patty (Jerry) Marzinske and Sue (Dan) Goebel, both of Mankato; three grandchildren — Chris Goebel, Anne (Jeffrey) Stocker and Ben Goebel; great-grandson Hunter; and nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
