Undersheriff Huff takes IT job at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center

Lincoln County Undersheriff Sgt. Brandon Huff has resigned from his role at the Sheriff’s Office to return to a career in information technology, a field he worked in for 15 years before joining the force about 7 years ago.

Huff’s last day is March 15. For his new position he’ll return to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, where he worked for 8 years in IT before becoming a Sheriff’s Deputy.

Huff, who will still serve the Sheriff’s Office as a reserve deputy and firearms instructor, said Thursday that his is a “very amicable departure.”

“I’ve really appreciated working with the guys there,” he said. “It’s been a great experience.”

Huff wanted to squelch any rumors that politics had anything to do with his departure. A variety of circumstances, including a “significant career change” for his wife, made this a good time to make his own career change, he said.

Brian Griffeth, who recently returned to the Sheriff’s Office after working in Texas, will assume the role of Undersheriff.

“He’s eminently qualified (and) brings a ton of knowledge and experience” to the role, Huff said, adding that it makes him “feel a whole lot better” about moving on to know someone is ready to step into the role.

“Brian is a great guy who has worked for us before,” said Sheriff Roby Bowe, who noted Griffeth’s 35 year’s experience in law enforcement. “Brian is going to be a great fit (and) a great asset to the community.”

Griffeth returned to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office as a captain about a month ago, Bowe said.

Prior to his return, Griffeth was chief of the Department of Public Safety in Fate, Texas.
