FSPW presentation at Simple Simon's
Simple Simon’s Pizza will host Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness with a talk and slide show by John Gatchell, the Montana Wilderness Association’s Senior Conservation Advisor, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12,
Gatchell attended his first MWA meeting in 1975 in the Swan Valley. He was working as a logger, but after MWA welcomed him to share his views, he decided to volunteer. After 10 years volunteering, Gatchell was offered the job of MWA conservation director.
“I love being in wild places and stepping into quiet,” Gatchell said. “It’s good to have a little discomfort, and we need those places to challenge us, and wilderness is a place for a challenge. Wilderness is a uniquely American idea, and there’s nothing like this in most countries.”
Admission to this event is free. The evening will feature a no-host beer and wine provided by Rimrock, and FSPW will provide free pizza.
