Libby wins Western 'A' Tip Off Tournament
After emerging from pool play 10-2 and first place among Northwest ‘A’ teams, the Lady Loggers went three sets with the Corvallis Blue Devils to take the tournament win Friday and Saturday.
Libby High School volleyball Head Coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said the win makes a great start to the season.
“I am very proud of the way the girls competed, especially in the final match, defeating a very tough team,” Ostrem-Johnston wrote.
The team is doing good when serving aggressively, she said.
Team serving for the tournament was 90 percent, and team attack was .208, which was “Not bad to build on,” she said.
All of the varsity team and a couple junior varsity players made it to participate in the Browning-hosted tournament, and Ostrem-Johnston said it was a great experience for the 12 players who went.
“All of them got at least a little bit of varsity playing time, which should pay off down the stretch,” she wrote.
The Lady Loggers will face their next two opponents at home. They are set to host Columbia Falls Friday, with the froshmore team starting at 4:15 p.m., junior varsity at 5:45 p.m. and varsity at 7:15 p.m.
On Saturday, they will host Whitefish, with the froshmore team at 1 p.m., junior varsity at 2:30 p.m. and varsity at 4 p.m.
