Mildred Baeth Whitehouse

| August 21, 2018 4:00 AM

Our precious Mildred slipped away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Aug. 19, 2018. She was born during a blizzard Jan. 5, 1917, in Malta to George and Myrtle Baeth. She was the fifth of 13 children. In 1926, the family moved to Libby so Mildred’s oldest brother Bill could start high school and her dad George began working in the boiler room at J. Neils Lumber Company.

In 1940 on May 13, Mildred married Duane Whitehouse in Libby, and they were married 68 wonderful years. Their greatest joy were their children Roy, Kent and Sara, and their grandchildren Jacki, Heidi and Erik. The Whitehouse’s favorite pastime was fishing at their cabin on Bitterroot Lake, which was built in 1955. They celebrated many holidays and special occasions at Bitterroot, and the family continues to enjoy the cabin.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Sara; grandson Erik and granddaughters Jacki and Heidi; great-grandchildren; two brothers Brad and Dick Baeth; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband Duane; sons Roy and Kent; parents George and Myrtle Baeth; and 10 siblings.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church at 200 W. Larch St. in Libby.
