Carolyn Darlene Jameson

| August 10, 2018 4:00 AM

Carolyn Darlene Jameson, 76, died on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, in the Kalispell Regional Hospital. She was born on Dec. 7, 1941, in Spokane, Washington, to George Leonard and Evelyn Margarite (Hasse) Thompson.

Carolyn (Carol) grew up in Spokane, and married George (Jim) Russell Jameson for the first time at the age of 14, then again when she was 18. They remained married until Jim’s death in 2014.

Carol and Jim operated Jameson Drywall in Spokane. In 1977 when their business became too big, they moved to Libby to downsize. Jameson Drywall continues to this day, now run by their youngest son, David.

Carol and Jim were Seventh-day Adventists.

Carol is probably best known to the Libby community for her work at The Lighthouse Camera Store. Carolyn loved her work there, where she learned to matte pictures, fix cameras and retouch photos. Her boss, Dan Dolezal, became a dear friend.

When The Lighthouse Camera Store closed, Carolyn moved to the Yaak, and enjoyed some restful years there. After Jim died and Carol found out she had liver cancer, she moved to Libby, where David helped her grow a large garden. David and Jewell successfully fought hard to prolong Carol’s life, taking her to the Mayo Clinic who made treating her primary biliary cirrhosis an easy process — giving her approximately three years beyond her initial diagnosis. In the end, she did not die from her primary biliary cirrhosis.

Carolyn loved her grandbabies and had a special way of endearing her grandchildren to her. She would often say, “I’ve never seen an ugly Jameson baby. Some of them get homely as they grow older, but I’ve never seen an ugly Jameson baby.”

Now Carolyn is resting, waiting for Jesus’ return. Carol often said that she was blessed. And she was.

Survivors include four siblings — Shirley Stout, Audrey Wrencher (who went by Jeanne), Stanley Thompson and Dixie Case; four sons and their wives — Steven and wife Rosie Jameson, Ralph and wife Vickie Jameson, George and wife Rachel Jameson, and David and wife Jewell Jameson; nine grandchildren — Steven’s daughters Chloe and Stephanie, Ralph’s children Jonny Jameson and Kara Foo, George’s sons Michael and Silas, and David’s children Jessica Detlor and Joseph; and four great-grandchildren — Jessica’s children Lindy and Jonah, Jonny’s son Luke and Kara’s daughter Melanie.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband George (Jim) R. Jameson; her brother Danny Thompson; and her grandson George Jameson Jr. (19).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 at the Libby Seventh-day Adventist Church in Libby. Carolyn will be buried at the Boyd Hill Cemetery in the Yaak.
