Betty Jean Hill

Betty Jean Hill, 62, died on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Libby Care Center. She was born on Aug. 12, 1955, in Harlem to George and Eleanor (Lindsay) Allery.

Bette was raised in Libby, where she attended school, worked at the Libby Care Center, and gave birth to her son Jason Phelps on April 7, 1976.

Bette left Libby about 1978, moving to Oregon where she fell in love with the coast. Betteā€™s journey continued on to southern California, where she met and married Bob Hill on Aug. 29, 1988.

Bette attended the San Diego City College and worked at a variety of jobs prior to purchasing her own business. In November 1998, Bette opened her deli, Creative Croissants, in San Diego, California, where she worked for several years. Bette left Southern California, moving back to Montana for a short time prior to moving to northern California. Bette moved back to Montana about 2008, at which time she went to work for the Town Pump. Bette challenged every aspect of life. She was spirited, strong willed and always stood her ground.

Bette was preceded in death by grandparents; her father Donald Hutton; nephews Ray and Anthony Hutton; and many other relatives.

Survivors include her son Jason Phelps of Vancouver, Washington; her mother Eleanor Lindsay of Libby; and siblings George Hutton of Libby, Donna Parrish of Libby, Raymond Hutton of San Diego, California, Cindy Hutton of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Bruce Hutton of Harrah, Washington, and Grace Hutton of Libby.

Services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Libby.
