Neil Hans Jensen

Neil Hans Jensen, 78, died on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home in Libby of natural causes. He was born on Jan. 31, 1940 at Mink Creek, Idaho, to Mark and Edna Jensen. He was the fourth of five children.

Hans, or “Pete,” as most of his family and friends called him, graduated high school from Soda Springs, Idaho, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Jan. 6, 1959. He served four years on an aircraft carrier, the Franklin D. Roosevelt, as a Boiler Tender 2nd Class until he was honorably discharged.

Following his service to his country, Hans went to work for the City of Los Angeles as a board operator dispatcher for 10 years. He loved to hunt and decided to move to Wyoming, where he could enjoy hunting more often. He lived and worked in Casper, Wyoming at Pacific Power as a board operator dispatcher until he retired in 1993.

Following his retirement, Hans moved to Libby. He and his brothers Roger and Chet, and nephew Wes, built his home where he spent the remainder of his life.

Hans was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Edna Jensen, and two sisters, Carol Stringham and Ranae Panter.

Survivors include his two brothers, Roger M. Jensen and Chester C. Jensen, both of Libby.
