Samantha Willis of the Medical/Surgical Department at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center recently completed her certification as a Certified Wound Care Nurse, a news release states.

She was certified after receiving more than 120 hours of training in three weeks at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

According to the news release, Willis’ certification is an important addition to the medical services available in Lincoln County.

“Acute and chronic wounds, such as venous, arterial, neuropathic, and traumatic wounds and pressure injuries, are becoming an increasing problem amongst the population, are costly to manage, and can have a detrimental effect on the physical and psychosocial wellbeing of patients,” the news release states. “Patients in our community previously had limited options for wound care locally and many had to travel to wound care clinics in other cities for specialized care.”
