Libby, Troy police officers graduate from law enforcement academy

One police officer from Libby and one from Troy were among 56 new officers who were graduated from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy in a ceremony held Friday at the Helena Civic Center.
Cody DeWitt of Libby and Travis Miller of Troy took part in the 164th Law Enforcement Officers Basic Course.
“Cody did very well in the academy,” Libby Police Chief Scott Kessel said via email. “Not only did he score well academically and physically, he maintained a high level of motivation and enthusiasm.”
Kessel said DeWitt will spend the next three months working under the supervision of a field training officer before he hits the streets solo. He will remain on probation for the rest of the year, Kessel said.
Miller, said Troy Police Chief Katie Davis, “excelled” and “did wonderful” at the Academy.
“His biggest concern was making our agency proud, and he did that and then some,” she said via email. “I think he’s a fantastic officer and a wonderful human being.”
Since Miller is a “Troy boy,” Davis said she expects he will stay with the department and be dedicated for the long haul.
