Libby started fast and cruised to an easy 25-6, 25-10, 25-15 victory over Browning in a Class A conference volleyball matchup on Saturday, continuing its strong start to the season.

A strong service game propelled the Loggers to the win, as they recorded a season-high 19 aces in the match. Jayden Winslow led the team with five, followed by Mehki Sykes and Emma Brooklyn each with four.

“When you get 19 points off of aces, you have to give the serving some credit,” Libby head coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said, though she added “our serving percentage wasn’t where we wanted it to be.”

Brooklyn Rainer recorded eight kills, while Sykes added seven and Winslow — who “had an all-around solid match,” Ostrem-Johnston said — added six.

Alli Collins was Libby’s assist leader with 26.

Despite the big win, Ostrem-Johnston still sees ways her team can improve.

“We gave up 10 points in the last set on our own errors,” she said. “We still need to clean up unforced errors. We’re still working on staying at that high level throughout the match.”

Olivia Hall had two kills, three assists and three digs and Anna McEvers added three digs and an ace to lead Browning.

Libby, which is now 6-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play, puts its undefeated record on the line again when it hosts Whitefish at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
