Darrell M. Cottrell
Today is the second anniversary since our dad left us to be with our Mom on Sept. 12, 2015.
Darrell was born in Jennings, the baby of seven children born to George and Nora (Doyle) Cottrell, on April 7, 1939. He was raised and educated in Libby. He worked as a logger, a truck driver and even a cowboy for most of his life.
Darrell married Teresa Torrence on Nov. 7, 1986 in Butte, and became an instant dad to two. Our parents were married for 26 years before mom passed away. They loved to camp, fish, pick huckleberries, bow hunt, have family picnics and visit family in Butte. They were inseparable even while fighting terminal cancer together.
Dad was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa, in 2012; his parents; a brother, Mel Cottrell; and five sisters — Bethene Candee, Jacqueline Powell, Georgia Parker, Geraldine Fletcher and Joann Collier.
His is deeply missed by his daughter Terri (Bill) Boyle and their family of Butte, and his son Dan Torrence of Kalispell, who was dad’s caretaker for the last few years of his life. He is also survived by sons Michael and George Cottrell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held where their ashes will be combined and spread at their favorite camping area. Together forever.
