Libby Elementary School and W. F. Morrison Elementary School in Troy both earned a platinum level award at the Montana Behavioral Summer Institute in June, it was announced Thursday.

The MBI model is a positive proactive approach to discipline and school climate, according to MBI Consultant Sandy Elmore.

“Each MBI school develops universals (expectations) for their school,” Elmore wrote in a letter to the schools. “The expectations are posted throughout the school and taught explicitly to the students. A positive climate enhances student’s self-esteem along with providing a wonderful learning environment.”

MBI can be used from pre-school through high school, Elmore wrote.
