Kootenai Kiwanis Koats-4-Kids, a service project of the Kiwanis Club in Libby and Troy since 2002, will begin its 2017-2018 season 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23 at the Asa Wood Center at 700 Idaho Ave. in Libby. It will be open those hours on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the winter.

Since the project’s inception, the club has given away more than 17,000 coats and winter items, according to a news release.

“It is called ‘Koats-4-Kids,’ but we want everyone to know, though children are our priority, it is really ‘Coats for the Community’ and anyone who needs winter wear can come in and get what they need to stay warm this winter,” the news release states.

People who wish to donate winter items can drop them off in the boxes available at Ace Hardware, Rosauers, Libby Area Chamber of Commerce, Aunt T’s Coffee Shop, Pioneer Auto, Managhan’s Furniture and the Libby Dollar Store.
