The problem with republican and conservative thinking

The Republican Party must shape up if it wants to be a force for good. We must begin measuring success or failure on a person-by-person basis. If one person fails, all of society fails. Any politician that does not accept personal responsibility for every failure will not push through the cocoon to find the amazing solutions that are hidden in plain view. Leaders must accept responsibility.

I am responsible for every person who does not have access to excellent medical care. I am responsible to build and implement an incredibly high quality medical system and a new insurance system.

I am responsible for every child who is abused. I am responsible to foster a culture that prevents abuse from ever happening, ever. Rape should be so rare that the word itself disappears from memory.

I am responsible for every business failure. I am responsible for every person who is laid off. I am responsible for all unfunded public pensions. I am responsible for crumbling infrastructure.

Unlike my Republican opponents for the U.S. Senate, I know that society’s problems are too severe for old policies to work anymore. My opponents will simply collect a paycheck as people lose hope in the political system. I believe that amazing change is inevitable. It starts with leaders accepting personal responsibility, not just in their minds, but in their hearts.

Please join me in accepting responsibility as well, regardless of how few or how many join us.
