Logan Christensen, a Libby High School senior, recently was named a “Commended Student” in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program, one of about 34,000 students so recognized nationwide.

Christensen is known for his work ethic. Counselor Amanda Foss praised him for taking on more than a full load as a senior, with eight classes on his schedule including an after-school online course.

“He works hard, studies hard and his good habits and work ethic have helped him achieve the high honor of being a commended scholar,” Foss said.

“The coolest thing is that I got to shadow him as a student last year and watch a typical day in his shoes,” said Assistant Principal Jim Germany. “I barely made it to noon and my head was swimming by the time his Trig class came around.”

Though not award finalists, Commended Students placed among the top tier of more than 1.6 million students who entered the annual National Merit Scholarship competition, a news release states.
