Leone H. Peterson
Leone H. Peterson, 85, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017 in Spokane, Washington. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at St. John’s Cathedral, 127 East 12th Ave. in Spokane with the Reverend Canon Kristi Philip officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Leone was born on Aug. 14, 1932 in Libby to William and Phyllis Harris. She graduated from Libby High School in 1950. She attended Washington State University where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, graduating in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She taught school in Washington, D.C., Virginia, California and Washington.
Leone married Robert Peterson on June 5, 1954 in Pullman, Washington. Education and music were her loves. She enjoyed entertaining at retirement homes playing the organ, piano and autoharp. She was a co-founder of the Spokane Folk Festival and a member of the Spokane Falls Autoharp Club and Phi Kappa Phi Music Honorary. She was a former member of the St. John’s Cathedral Choir.
She is survived by her husband Robert Peterson of Spokane; Susan Peterson of Richland, Washington; son Jack Peterson of Spokane; and two grandchildren, Andrew Christiansen of Richland and Robert D. Peterson (Maddie) stationed at Camp Pendleton, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Mary Austin of White Bird, Idaho.
