Irene F. Moe

| October 10, 2017 10:44 AM

Irene F. Moe, 84, died on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at her home in Libby of natural causes. She was born on July 13, 1933 at Fargo, North Dakota to Edward and Florence (Johnson) Jaros. She was so proud of the fact that she went back to school and got her GED in 1991. It was 40 years to the date of when she should have graduated. She married Harry Moe in Libby on Aug. 20, 1950. He was the love of her life and they shared and enjoyed 67 years together.

Irene had worked at the Evergreen Motel and was also a caregiver. She was a member of the Senior Center and drove the senior bus. She worked the elections; worked at the Food Pantry; and organized and worked the March of Dimes.

Irene was a bowler. She also loved to hunt, but her favorite thing was camping and fishing up the Fisher River with her family and friends. Her mother-in-law, Viola Karnes, told her she had beaten her record for the amount of fish and potato and onions fried up Fisher River, probably in the thousands for the fish count.

Irene loved her whole family so much. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother! She and Harry loved playing bingo. They grew huge gardens. In August 1990, they started playing cards (Spite and Malice) every morning at breakfast. They always kept score. They played 20,540 games and tied 11,714 of those games. She was games ahead when she left. Harry said she was the winner.

Irene was a loving and very caring person. She loved silly stuff and laughing. She hated to be alone and enjoyed Facebook on her computer. Irene loved dancing with Harry; going for rides together and getting an ice cream cone. She enjoyed game shows and when you would just sit and visit with her. She could be absolutely hilarious; you would laugh until you cried.

We will miss you so much, Bacon Brows, and we love you.

Irene was preceded in death by a son Harry Moe, Jr.; her parents Edward and Florence Jaros; her granddaughter, Tera Lynn Lippert; four sisters, Mabel Maisel, Lillian Cripe, Nellie King, Edie Sams; and a brother Clifford Haugen.

Survivors include her husband Harry of Libby; children Yvonne Resch (John) of Libby; Sue Lippert (Ralph) of Troy; Tina Thompson (Bob) of Libby; Rick Moe (Kelli) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Ron Moe (Patty) of Libby; a brother Don Haugen of Arizona; 11 grandchildren Kimber, Tina, Tyann, Shana, Steve, Lindsey, Erin, Arron, Alex, Elise and Chelcie; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
