After months of looking for a new home within Libby city limits, City Council member Brian Zimmerman had good news to report at Monday’s meeting.

“As of last Monday, a week ago from today, we did receive our keys for the house we purchased at 1203 Nevada Ave.,” he told his fellow council members soon after the meeting began.

The news was met with congratulations from Mayor Brent Teske and others.

The question of Zimmerman’s residency was last raised in front of the City Council at its March 20 meeting.

“I don’t believe that Mr. Zimmerman is doing anything of ill will towards the city,” council member Kristin Smith said at the meeting. “I believe that he has the city’s interest at heart and he is working towards finding housing because I’m sure he wants to find housing.”

In a July interview Zimmerman said his efforts to purchase a home had been thwarted by being outbid several times and having other deals fall through.
