EUREKA — Eureka will have a chance to play its way into the state volleyball tournament on its home court.

Eureka fell to Florence in three sets 25-12, 25-21, 25-18 on Friday in the unbeaten semifinal at the Western B divisional tournament, to fall into the third place game today.

The winner of the third place game would earn at least the second seed from the West and a berth in the state tournament.

Deer Lodge edged Bigfork in five sets 25-8, 18-25, 25-20, 16-25, 15-12 to earn its spot in the third place match.

Bigfork, who was led by Abby Ellison with 19 kills, 18 digs, four aces and a block, couldn’t complete the comeback after storming back in the second and fourth sets. The Valkyries had beaten Loyola 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 earlier in the day to advance to the fourth place game.

Eureka and Deer Lodge are scheduled to start today at 10 a.m., with the winner advancing to the championship game against Florence at noon. Either team would have to beat Florence twice in the title matches to win the divisional and take the top seed from the West.
