World music ensemble performing in Libby Nov. 9

John Roberts Y Pan Blanco returns to Libby 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 for a show sponsored by the Kootenai Heritage Council and held at the Libby Memorial Events Center.
The world-music ensemble — featuring vocals in Spanish, English and Portuguese and funk, African and salsa grooves — can trace its roots to a ranch in Southeastern Montana, where John Roberts started playing piano at age 5. He eventually picked up trombone, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music performance from MSU-Billings and moved to Los Angeles to earn a master of fine arts degree from California Institute of the Arts. He’s recorded and toured worldwide, and teaches music at MSU-Billings and out of a private studio.
Tickets are $15 at the door, $12 in advance, and free to students who attend with a paying adult. They’re available at Cabinet Books, Libby Chamber of Commerce, Homesteaders Farm & Ranch, Rivermist, The Western News, Mountain Meadows and Rocky Mountain Music. Troy residents can get their tickets at Booze ’n Bait.
Season passes cost $50, which drops the individual event price to only $10.
