Libby's 'Fab Fore Froshmores'
What a great divisional golf tournament for the freshman and sophmore Libby boys. Ryggs Johnston shot a spectacular seven under 65 defending his divisional title, and the other boys shot great numbers to qualify as a team for the state tournament in Shelby next week.
This group of boys is truly a team. They play for each other encouraging, helping and just supporting their teammates. This same group of boys improved their team score from the first tournament until the divisional tournament by 74 strokes.
We talked before the tournament about putting value on each drive, chip and putt. We lost our home tournament by one stroke and all the boys could remember half a dozen shots that they lost confidence or focus on. “Let it go” was one of our main thoughts for the tournament. If you have a bad shot, chip or putt, just “let it go” and don’t let your fear or disappointment affect your next shot or ruin your game. They all did a super job of staying in each shot and knowing one break in focus could make a big difference on their team’s outcome.
Ryggs has truly been a great leader for this group of boys. He had a goal to go to state with a team. They have been very supportive and hard working to make it possible for the logger team to represent Libby at the state tournament. I couldn’t be prouder or happier for this team.
