Around noon on Wednesday, the body of Trevor Applegate was recovered from the Kootenai River near Troy. Fish, Wildlife & Parks employees working in the area located the body in the water and called 911.

Applegate had fallen into the river just below the Kootenai Falls while hiking on the icy rocks on Dec. 16 of last year.

According to a press release issued by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Trevor Applegate, a 6’2, 41-one-year-old Bonners Ferry man, reportedly went missing at 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 6 after a witness reported seeing him being swept downstream.

DTSAR continued the search into the night of Dec. 6 using both ground and boat crews, and resumed the search in the morning of Dec. 7, deploying more than 20 members on the ground, a jet boat and several camera equipped drones.
