Flooding on Education Way

After a snow-packed winter, the recent rise in temperatures had residents bracing for the inevitable.

As spring arrives, flooding is expected in Libby.

Some homes received minor damages, and water flowed into the roads from Parmenter Creek — one of the many creeks in Libby known to flood in the spring.

Along Education Way, West of Libby, a water body formed over the weekend, flowing over trees and sidewalks.

This all takes place a month after Lincoln County officials worked for a week to stop ice jams along Flower Creek. During that week, excavators were scattered along the creek bed, breaking up ice before they created hazards.

That proactive effort paid off as Flower Creek is still flowing peacefully into the Kootenai River.
